Two international scientific conferences will take place at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) in Jelgava from May 14 to May 23, bringing together researchers from Latvia and abroad, as well as representatives from industry and policymakers. The conferences will focus on current research and solutions for sustainable rural development, resource management, engineering technologies, life sciences, and socio-economic issues.

From May 14 to 16, the 31st International Scientific Conference "Research for Rural Development" will be held. The conference will cover a broad range of topics: life sciences – sustainable and climate-friendly management of natural resources (including agricultural sciences such as crop production and animal breeding, veterinary medicine, food safety, and forestry), engineering sciences – technologies and innovations for climate-neutral use of resources (including agricultural and environmental engineering, landscape architecture and water management, wood processing, and information and communication technologies) and social sciences – research and governance for a sustainable bioeconomy (including regional development, land use planning, education and rural development, and agricultural economics).

From May 21 to 23, the International Scientific Conference "Engineering for Rural Development" will take place. During this event, researchers will discuss topics such as agricultural machinery, renewable and traditional energy sources, greenhouse gas emissions and waste management, agro-engineering technologies and mechanisms, control systems, materials science, transport and logistics, fuels and technical fluids, education in engineering and technologies, and more.

The Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies is a multidisciplinary science university offering more than 50 study programs in life sciences, engineering, and social sciences at all levels of higher education – bachelor's, master's, and doctoral. The university's activities in higher education and research are characterized by a strong focus on the sustainable use of natural resources and the development of society. LBTU researchers conduct studies and create innovations to help people live better, healthier, and longer lives. The knowledge gained through research is passed on to new professionals who choose to study at the university.
