Irina Arhipova previously served as the Vice-Rector for Science at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU), and before that, she also held the position of Chair of the University Council (Konvents). She earned her higher education in mathematics and holds a doctoral degree in engineering sciences (Dr.sc.ing.). Professor Arhipova began her professional career at LBTU in 1991, gradually developing both her academic and administrative paths. She led the University's Science Department and served for many years as Dean of the newly established Faculty of Information Technologies. Later, she gained broad professional experience as head of the Department of Science, Technology, and Innovation at the Ministry of Education and Science. Alongside her administrative work, she has continuously lectured students, authored several textbooks in higher mathematics and statistics, and remained active in scientific research. Under Professor Arhipova’s leadership as Vice-Rector for Science, the university has significantly improved its research outcomes in recent years and defined its strategic specialization areas—biosciences, engineering sciences, and social sciences—which are now embedded in LBTU’s Development Strategy.

Ilze Beitāne joined the university's top management as part of the former rector’s team. She completed all levels of her higher education at LBTU, earning her bachelor's degree from the former Faculty of Food Technology and her master’s degree in the “Economics” program with a specialization in “Entrepreneurship and Management.” In 2008, she obtained a doctoral degree in engineering sciences in the field of food science. She began her academic career as a lecturer during her doctoral studies and, since 2005, has gradually developed study programs and courses related to nutrition and healthy eating habits. She gives lectures both in Latvia and internationally and educates professionals from various sectors on nutrition issues. Due to her professional expertise, she is a member of the Ministry of Health’s Nutrition Council. She is also an active member of the LBTU Senate and University Council (Konvents). Professor Beitāne gained administrative experience as head of LBTU’s Center for Science and Project Development. In recent years, she has successfully overseen major university development projects, including “Improving LLU Governance” and “Digitalization Initiatives for Enhancing Study Quality in Strategic Specialization Areas of Higher Education Institutions.”

Gatis Vītols

Gatis Vītols led the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies (IITF) as its Dean. He obtained his higher education in Jelgava, completing undergraduate studies in “Computer Control and Computer Science” and graduate studies in “Information Technologies” at the former Faculty of Information Technologies. In 2012, he defended his doctoral thesis and received a doctoral degree in engineering sciences in the field of information technologies. He began his professional career at the university during his master’s studies in 2007, gradually advancing his academic and administrative career at LBTU. Even as a student, he led the faculty's student council and participated in the Study Council and University Council (Konvents) as a student representative. Later, he gained the trust of the university community and was elected to the LBTU Senate and Council as a staff member. Dr. Vītols has extensive experience leading international scientific projects and collaborating with entrepreneurs and the Jelgava municipality on research initiatives. His scientific interests focus on the implementation of digital solutions in the transport sector, urban mobility issues, and the development of information systems. His research results are summarized in over 50 scientific publications.

Linards Sisenis

Linards Sisenis led the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences (MVZF) as its Dean. He obtained all levels of higher education at LBTU, specializing in forest science, and in 2013 he defended his doctoral thesis, earning a doctoral degree in forest science. He began working at the university during his bachelor’s studies as a first-year student, initially heading the Hunting Laboratory, and later serving as Deputy Dean for Economic Affairs of the former Faculty of Forestry. Alongside his education, he developed a career at the university in both academic and administrative fields, and for 25 consecutive years, the university has remained his sole place of employment. He established and led the Faculty's Continuing Education Center. He has earned the trust of the LBTU community and is currently serving his second term as Deputy Chair of the University Council (Konvents). Over the past seven years, under Sisenis’ leadership, major renovation projects have been carried out at the main building and surrounding area of the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences. Additionally, the LBTU Interdisciplinary Laboratory was constructed and equipped, significantly advancing the study and research infrastructure at both the faculty and university levels.
