Senate

The Senate is the highest collegial academic decision-making body of LBTU, responsible for the excellence, development and compliance of LBTU education and research with internationally recognized quality standards. The Senate determines the areas of academic and scientific activity of LBTU.

The Senate is elected by the Convention for a term of three years.

The Senate - elects the Chairman of the Senate, the Deputy Chairman of the Senate and the Secretary. These positions are elected no more than twice in a row. The Chairman of the Senate cannot simultaneously hold the position of rector, vice-rector or dean.

The Chairman (Deputy) of the Senate plans and chairs the Senate meetings, organizes the preparation of issues to be considered, and controls the implementation of Senate decisions.

The Senate is convened at least six times a year. Exceptions are possible by special decision of the Senate. The agenda of the Senate and draft decisions to be discussed must be announced or published the week before the Senate meeting.

The Senate meetings are quorate if more than half of the senators participate in them. When deciding on the awarding of honorary titles of LBTU and the proposal to remove the rector from office, the senators vote by secret ballot. A secret ballot may also be requested in other cases if at least half of the senators present vote for it openly.


Council

Science Council

LBTU Science Council is a representative institution of scientific branches and subbranches, which coordinates scientific work at the university.

The Council is headed by the Vice-Rector for Sciences, the Chairman of the Council has a deputy, its technical work is organized by the Secretary of the Council.

The Council is composed of the Vice-Rectors for Sciences and Studies; the Head of the Science and Project Development Center; the Head of the Doctoral School; delegated representatives of each faculty, a delegated representative of the Head of the LBTU Fundamental Library - with advisory rights; a delegated representative of the APP “Institute of Horticulture” and a delegated representative of the APP “Institute of Agroresources and Economics” - with advisory rights.

The main responsibilities of the Council are determining the priority directions of scientific work, planning and coordinating the scientific work of academic staff and students, promoting international scientific cooperation, evaluating and summarizing research results.

The functions of the Council are to oversee the development and implementation of the scientific strategy of LBTU, the process of scientific development, the use of funding intended for scientific development, the implementation of the promotion processes, as well as the work of the professorial councils.

Council meetings are held during the academic year on the last Wednesday of each month, except for June, July and December. If necessary, an extraordinary meeting may be convened at the written request of the Vice-Rector for Science or at least five members of the Council.

The Council is entitled to decide if at least half of its members participate in its work. The Council makes decisions by a simple majority of votes, by open voting. A secret ballot may be held if requested by at least three members of the Council. If the number of votes is divided equally, the vote of the Chairman of the Council is decisive.

In the event of a dispute, the Vice-Rector for Science or ¼ of those present at the Council meeting are entitled to request that the issue be considered and decided by the Senate.

Council members have the right to propose for consideration by the Council any issue related to scientific activity or the planning of the Council's work, and to submit their draft decisions on the issues under consideration.


Study Council

The Study Council is responsible for and resolves issues related to the organization of the study process and academic work of teaching staff, as well as professional qualification issues.

The Study Council is composed of: Vice-Rectors for Studies and Sciences, Deans of all faculties, Head of the Study Center, Head of the LBTU Fundamental Library, Heads of the International Cooperation, Sports and Lifelong Learning Centers, and three delegated representatives of the LBTU Student Government.
