On June 17, 122 graduates from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies (FEIT) at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) received their higher education diplomas. Among them, 102 students completed bachelor’s study programmes and 20 earned master’s degrees, including seven international students.

Acting Dean of the Faculty Ruslans Šmigins addressed the graduates: "This year marks a special milestone in the history of our faculty's graduation ceremonies – an exceptional number of students are completing their studies: 122 graduates across six bachelor’s and two master’s study programmes. We are truly delighted, as this demonstrates your trust in the quality of our study programmes, our academic staff, and the opportunities offered by our university. Our alumni are already successfully working in leading engineering, IT, and energy companies both in Latvia and abroad. Today, you join their ranks – new professionals who will undoubtedly contribute to the growth of companies and the country's development."

R. Šmigins continued: "This year’s final theses covered a wide range of current and innovative topics, offering improvements to existing systems and creating new solutions in engineering and IT. These works impressed not only the examination committees but also industry professionals. Several tackled cross-sectoral issues, including artificial intelligence, virtual reality, robotics, energy, agriculture, and design. Some of these may even become the foundation for future products or startups. Time will tell, but we sincerely wish you great success! Whether you're entering the workforce or continuing an already-started career, may the skills, contacts, and experience gained at our faculty serve as a solid foundation for your professional path. We’ll always celebrate your achievements and proudly follow your career progress. And if you choose to continue your studies, know that our doors will always remain open."

Diplomas were awarded to the following graduates:

  • 25 graduates of the academic bachelor's programme "Computer Control and Computer Science",

  • 15 graduates of the professional bachelor's programme "Design and Crafts",

  • 26 graduates, including three international students, of the professional bachelor’s programme "Information Technologies for Sustainable Development" earned a professional bachelor's degree in Information Technologies and the qualification of Programming Engineer,

  • 18 graduates of the academic bachelor’s programme "Agricultural Engineering",

  • 9 graduates of the professional bachelor’s programme "Applied Energy",

  • 9 graduates of the professional bachelor’s programme "Machine Design and Production".

At the master’s level, 20 graduates were honored:

  • 12 graduates of the academic master’s programme "Information Technologies" received a Master’s Degree in Engineering Sciences in Information Technologies, including three international students.

  • 8 graduates of the academic master’s programme "Agricultural Engineering" were awarded a Master’s Degree in Engineering Sciences in Mechanical Engineering, including one international student.

LBTU Vice-Rector for Science, Gatis Vītols, also addressed the graduates: "It’s once again the time of the Solstice – a time when nature reaches full maturity, and at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, we celebrate one of the most important events of the academic year – graduation. Today, a university is much more than an educational institution. It is a platform where students, lecturers, researchers, entrepreneurs, and other stakeholders come together to shape the future. You are now part of this ecosystem. Moreover, you are not only graduating from a university – you are graduating from a European university alliance. For a year now, we have been part of the newly formed alliance "ChallengeEU", which unites 85,000 students across Germany, Sweden, Latvia, and other countries. It is a strong network that opens up broader opportunities to think, learn, and grow at the European level. Today, you receive more than just a diploma – you receive proof of your ability to overcome challenges. For some, it was a math exam, for others, a fear of public speaking. Some struggled with time management, others with staying motivated. Each of you faced your own challenges. And you succeeded. We can’t predict what skills will be needed 20 or 30 years from now, but we know that the ones you’ve acquired here – persistence, collaboration, presentation, and adaptability – will always be valuable. Congratulations on your graduation! May you continue to grow, inspire others, and take pride in all you have accomplished!"

Later this week, graduates from other faculties will also receive their diplomas: June 18 at 14:00 – Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences (MVZF), June 19 at 14:00 – Faculty of Agriculture and Food Technology (LPTF), June 20 at 11:00 – Faculty of Economics and Social Development (ESAF) and June 20 at 15:00 – Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (VMF).
