Graduation Ceremony Held for Graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Technology

At the Aula of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU), graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Technology were honored during the graduation ceremony. A total of 90 undergraduate and 42 postgraduate students received their diplomas for completing higher education. Additionally, six outstanding young women – Anna Rušmane, Katrīna Apsīte, Alvīne Henriete Auziņa, Monta Jurģe, Jeļena Pisarjonoka, and Klinta Madara Greiliha – were awarded special diplomas of excellence for their academic achievements during their studies.

LBTU Vice-Rector for Studies Ilze Beitāne addressed the audience: "It is a true honor and joy for me to take part in this beautiful event where we celebrate the achievements of our university graduates. Today is a moment to pause and reflect on the journey taken. While today our focus is on the graduates, I would also like to sincerely thank all the LBTU academic staff and support personnel – for your contribution not only in preparing these graduates but also in educating current students. Thank you for your work, patience, and support! Dear graduates, today you receive not only a diploma but also a symbolic key to your future. This key already comes with an instruction manual – the knowledge you’ve gained. How you use this key will be up to you. Use your knowledge, challenge yourselves, and be brave – and you will surely reach your goals. I wish you success and fulfillment on your professional journey!"

Bachelor's Degree Graduates (Total: 90)

  • Professional Bachelor’s Program in "Catering and Hotel Management" — 21 graduates. Diploma of Excellence awarded to Anna Rušmane for her thesis: "Evaluation of the menus of Jelgava restaurants and their sustainability", 

  • Professional Bachelor’s Program in "Agriculture" — 40 graduates. Diploma of Excellence awarded to Katrīna Apsīte for her thesis: "Pea diseases and their pathogens",

  • Academic Bachelor’s Program in "Food Quality and Innovations" — 12 graduates Diplomas of Excellence awarded to: Alvīne Henriete Auziņa for her thesis: "Changes in the quality indicators of cold-pressed hemp oil stored in edible pumpkin seed press cake films" ans Monta Jurģe for her thesis: "Development of dry whey protein products ‘Protein Smoothie",

  • Professional Bachelor’s Program in "Food Product Technology" — 15 graduates,

  • Academic Bachelor’s Program in "Sustainable Agriculture" (English-taught) — 2 international graduates.

Master’s Degree Graduates (42 total)

  • Academic Master’s Program in Agriculture — 11 graduates,

  • Academic Master’s Program in Food Science — 25 graduates (including 6 international students). Diploma of Excellence awarded to Jeļena Pisarjonoka for her thesis: "Extraction of natural chlorophyll pigment from food products using green extraction methods",

  • Academic Master’s Program in Nutrition Science — 6 graduates (diplomas to be awarded separately). Diploma of Excellence awarded to Klinta Madara Greiliha for her thesis: "Research on kombucha as a functional beverage".

Dean of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Technology (LPTF), Dace Siliņa, shared words of congratulations: "Dear graduates, today you receive your higher education diploma, but this moment symbolizes so much more. It is a story of knowledge, skills, experience, emotions, friendships, and shared moments. Life often gives tests without warning – without lectures or consultations. Even if the path sometimes leads to a dead end, that too is a valuable learning stage. We are truly proud of each and every one of you and sincerely thank you for all that you have given to us!"

Earlier this week, graduates from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies (IITF) and the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences (MVZF) received their diplomas. Graduation ceremonies will continue on June 20 at 11:00 a.m. for the Faculty of Economics and Social Development.
