LBTU Continues to Demonstrate Strong Performance in the Times Higher Education Rankings
In October, the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) was included in the Times Higher Education (THE) World University Rankings 2026, placing in the "1501+" group. This achievement reflects the university’s growing international recognition and confirms the strength of its academic performance and research quality.
The THE World University Rankings 2026 evaluated 2,238 higher education institutions, an increase of 334 compared to the previous year. Widely used by students, academics, governments, and industry experts worldwide, the ranking includes 2,191 universities from 115 countries and territories.
LBTU’s results reflect its strongest areas while also pointing to further development potential. The university achieved particularly high scores in "International Outlook" (27.8 points) and "Industry (Knowledge Transfer)" (24.9 points), demonstrating its ability to build effective international partnerships, participate in global research projects, and successfully transfer innovations to industry.
At the same time, LBTU has improved its performance in "Teaching" (21.7 points), "Research Quality" (17.9 points), and "Research Environment" (15.8 points). The results confirm LBTU’s consistent investment in enhancing educational excellence and research capacity, fostering a dynamic environment for high-level scientific work.
In the previous academic year, LBTU enrolled 3,998 students, of whom 8% were international. The student-to-academic staff ratio of 14.1:1 reflects a supportive learning environment and a diverse academic community.
THE Subject Rankings placed LBTU in the "1001+" group for Life Sciences, "1251+" for Engineering, and "801–1000" for Social Sciences, emphasizing the university’s solid position across multiple disciplines in both teaching and research.
The results reaffirm LBTU’s status as one of the leading higher education and research institutions in Latvia and the Baltic region, highlighting its continued success in advancing academic excellence, innovation, and international collaboration.
