FAO Recognizes LBTU Fundamental Library for Its Contribution to the AGRIS System
The Fundamental Library of the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) has received the recognition badge "FAO AGRIS Data Provider 2026" awarded by the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) within the international information system AGRIS, confirming the library’s active and high-quality participation in data submission in 2025.
The recognition was granted to the LBTU Fundamental Library by the AGRIS National Centre in Latvia, acknowledging the professional preparation and submission of bibliographic data to the FAO-maintained international database. The submitted data reflect scientific works published in Latvia in the fields of food, agriculture, forestry, veterinary medicine, fisheries, and related disciplines.
The received recognition confirms the LBTU Fundamental Library’s sustainable contribution to enhancing access to scientific information, strengthening the visibility and representation of Latvian science in the international knowledge exchange.
The International System for Agricultural Science and Technology (AGRIS) is a multilingual bibliographic database that provides access to global research and technical information on food and agriculture. Since 1975, AGRIS has been maintained by FAO, serving users in both developed and developing countries and promoting access to knowledge in agriculture, science, and technology.
Since 1994, the LBTU Fundamental Library has operated as the AGRIS National Centre in Latvia, ensuring the inclusion of Latvian scientific output in this important international information system.
