LBTU Hosts Erasmus+ BIP Programme on Sustainable Cities and Eco-Innovations
From 31 August to 4 September, the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) hosted the Erasmus+ Blended Intensive Programme (BIP) "SUSTAINABLE CITIES: Eco-Innovation to Reduce Air Pollution & Water Contamination", bringing together students from Latvia, Poland, Spain, Portugal and Romania, as well as participants from Nigeria and Mozambique.
The programme focused on environmental quality, air and water pollution issues, and sustainable urban solutions. Throughout the week, students combined lectures and hands-on activities with study visits to the Getliņi landfill and the Riga Water Supply Museum in Baltezers, exploring environmental and water management in practice.
Working in international teams, students developed solutions to real environmental challenges – from water retention and treatment to flood prevention and air quality improvement. The programme concluded with presentations of the teams’ innovative ideas and a joint reflection on the knowledge and experience gained.
