On 12–13 November 2026, the XX Baltic Animal Breeding Conference will take place at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) in Jelgava. This year’s conference will focus on the theme "Sustainable Development of the Livestock Sector".

The scientific programme will address current challenges and opportunities in animal science and livestock production, aiming to foster discussion and identify solutions to the most pressing issues facing the sector today.

Sections:

  • animal genetics and genomics - exploring cutting-edge developments in breeding programs, genetic selection, and population genetic,

  • animal nutrition, husbandry and welfare - addressing sustainable feeding practices, herd management, and high-standard animal care.

The Baltic Animal Breeding Conference has a long-standing tradition of bringing together researchers, breeders, policymakers, and industry representatives. The event provides an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge, share new ideas, and strengthen existing collaborations while creating new networking opportunities.

The conference programme is planned in the traditional format. On 12 November, the morning session will feature plenary presentations, followed by scientific and breeding-related presentations in the afternoon. A technical tour is planned for 13 November. A detailed programme will be distributed at a later date.

Please note that registration for the conference is now open and available on the conference website: https://conferences.lbtu.lv/en.
Space is limited, so we invite interested individuals to register in advance.

Abstracts of presenters will be prepared in an electronic version (~300 words). We encourage participants to contribute an oral presentation (15 min.).
