LBTU Promotes ChallengeEU Opportunities and Inclusive Values Among Students
In September, the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) organised several activities to introduce students to the ChallengeEU European Universities Alliance, its objectives, and the opportunities it offers. Through introductory seminars and an open lecture, students learned more about international cooperation, personal development, and the importance of creating an inclusive university community.
The activities aimed to raise awareness of ChallengeEU and encourage students to actively participate in the opportunities available through the alliance. Particular attention was paid to fostering a sense of belonging, promoting equal opportunities, and introducing students to the support available within the university.
Introducing ChallengeEU During LBTU&Chill
From 4 to 6 September 2026, LBTU held LBTU&Chill, a three-day introductory seminar for first-year students that brought together approximately 40 participants.
Through interactive activities, teamwork, and discussions with lecturers and experts, students explored opportunities for personal and professional development, practical business skills, and entrepreneurship. Participants were also introduced to the LBTU Student Business Incubator, where they can develop their business ideas, and to ChallengeEU, which connects universities across Europe and promotes learning, collaboration, and engagement in an international academic community.
By creating an open and welcoming environment, LBTU&Chill encouraged students from different backgrounds to connect, exchange ideas, and become more involved in university life. The initiative also highlighted the importance of inclusion, diversity, mutual respect, and a sense of belonging within the university community.
Exploring ChallengeEU Opportunities and ODEI Support at LBTU
On 18 September 2026, LBTU organised an open lecture on ChallengeEU opportunities and Open, Equal, Diverse, and Inclusive (ODEI) support for first-year students.
The lecture introduced students to opportunities offered by the alliance, including international collaboration, learning experiences, personal development, and active participation in the wider European university community.
Another key focus was the importance of ODEI values in higher education. Students learned about the support functions available at LBTU that promote equality, diversity, accessibility, and inclusion, as well as their role in creating a safe, respectful, and supportive learning environment.
The event encouraged students to make use of available support services, engage with the university community, and contribute to an inclusive higher education environment in which everyone has the opportunity to participate and thrive.
