Doctors Safe Train

The Doctors Safe Train foundation was established in 2013 through a collaboration between two Latvian universities – Rīga Stradiņš University and the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies.

The name Doctors Safe Train reflects the principle that staff training should be safe and cause no harm to patients. The program offers modern, fully equipped operating rooms that allow training on live tissue in realistic, clinically simulated conditions, and involves highly qualified experts from Latvia and leading EU countries.

Since its founding in 2013, Doctors Safe Train has grown as important platform for practical medical education in Latvia. In collaboration with Rīga Stradiņš University and other partners, the foundation provides high-quality training for medical residents and professionals, including specialized programs in general and paediatric surgery, gynaecology, urology, and family medicine.

In 2024, the training scope expanded to include microvascular surgery using small animal models and the development of a military medicine training module. With over a decade of experience, international cooperation, and recognized status as a non-formal adult education institution, Doctors Safe Train plays an important role in strengthening medical education in Latvia.
