Latvian Plant Protection Research Centre
In 2010, the reorganization process of scientific institutions in Latvia continued. As a result, on September 1, 2010, the Latvian University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) took over ownership of the Latvian Plant Protection Research Centre (LAAPC). Since December 13, 2010, the official name of LAAPC has been Limited Liability Company "Latvian Plant Protection Research Centre".
Currently, scientific research is carried out in three groups:
Weed Research Group (Head: Zane Erdmane, Mg. biol.);
Field Crop Pathology Group (Head: Olga Treikale, Dr. biol.);
Entomology and Horticultural Plant Pathology Group (Head: Laura Ozoliņa-Pole, Mg. biol.).
LAAPC specialists conduct research within the framework of state-funded projects and also participate in international research projects. Considerable efforts are devoted to educating growers through field days, seminars, and lectures, as well as publishing articles on research findings in national agricultural press outlets.
