EIT Food Challenge Labs 2025 – Beyond the Pea Final Pitch Event at Jelgava Palace
From September 15 to 25, the EIT Food Challenge Labs 2025 – Beyond the Pea will bring together creative minds to develop sustainable and practical solutions based on the potential of pea processing side-streams.
In this event, 30 participants across nine teams will seek innovative solutions for transforming pea-processing by-products into sustainable and commercially viable products. Over the course of ten days, the teams will address two key challenges: Expanding Non-Traditional Markets for Purified Pea Starch through Fermentation and Unlocking Non-Food Potential for Pea Inner Fibre After Wet Processing.
The journey culminates with the Final Pitch & Awards on 25 September at Jelgava Palace, Silver Hall, where teams will present their solutions, receive expert feedback, and compete for prizes. The event will open at 17:00 with a welcome speech and event recap. Team pitches will follow from 17:30 to 18:30, after which an expert panel discussion will take place. The award ceremony will begin at 19:00.
Awards include €1,500 cash prizes for the best solutions in each challenge, special recognition from mentors and industry representatives, and opportunities to further develop ideas through EIT Food entrepreneurship programmes.
During the event, attendees will be able to hear the latest ideas and prototypes created in just ten days, meet young food innovators, mentors, and industry experts, as well as gain inspiration and explore opportunities for collaboration in building a sustainable food future. The event is open to everyone, and no prior registration is required.
