First Summer Graduation Ceremony Held – Graduates of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies Celebrated
On 17 June, 171 graduates of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) received their higher education diplomas in the Aula, including 11 international students. Three students were awarded Excellence Diplomas for outstanding academic achievements.

The graduates were congratulated by LBTU Rector Irina Arhipova: "Dear graduates, respected lecturers, parents, friends, and guests! Today we are here to celebrate a very important moment – the graduation of students from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies. This is a day we have looked forward to with pride, joy, and emotion. In this academic year, more than 800 students will graduate at the university. These students come from five university faculties, including 86 international graduates. A special congratulation goes to 56 graduates who will receive the diploma of excellence for their great academic result and hard work. The three graduates from the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies will receive the diploma of academic excellence. Dear graduates, in your next step – to work, more studies, or your own business – remember, you represent the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies. We are proud of you. A total of 44 graduates, including seven international students, completed the professional bachelor’s study programme "Information Technologies for Sustainable Development". They were awarded a professional bachelor’s degree in information technologies and the qualification of programming engineer.
Twenty graduates received a professional bachelor’s degree in product technologies and design and the qualification of product designer upon completing the professional bachelor’s study programme "Design and Crafts". Among them was an outstanding graduate, Eva Linde, whose final thesis was titled "Alternative Style Clothing Ensemble from Reused Materials".
Meanwhile, 38 graduates of the academic bachelor’s study programme "Computer Control and Computer Science" obtained a bachelor of engineering sciences degree in computer control and computer science.
Fifteen graduates of the academic bachelor’s study programme "Agricultural Engineering" received a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
One of the most important sectors of the national economy, energy, was strengthened by 19 graduates of the professional bachelor’s study programme "Applied Energy Engineering", who obtained a professional bachelor’s degree in energy engineering and the qualification of energy systems engineer. An Excellence Diploma was awarded to Sanija Buta for her final thesis "Improving the Energy Efficiency of the Residential Building ‘Pumpuri’ in Pūre Parish, Tukums Municipality, and Construction of a Central Heating System".
Twelve graduates of the professional bachelor’s study programme "Machine Design and Manufacturing" received a professional bachelor’s degree in machine design and manufacturing and the qualification of mechanical engineer.
One international student graduated from the academic bachelor’s study programme "Biosystems Machinery and Technologies", obtaining a bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering.
Diplomas were also awarded to nine graduates of the academic master’s study programme "Agricultural Engineering", who received a master’s degree in mechanical engineering. For outstanding academic performance, student Viktors Ciganovičs was awarded an Excellence Diploma. His master’s thesis was titled "Development of a Mobile Hydraulic Power Unit". This programme also had one international graduate.
Thirteen graduates of the academic master’s study programme "Information Technologies" received a master of engineering sciences degree in information technologies. Among them were two international students.
The graduates were also addressed by Ruslans Šmigins, Dean of the Faculty of Engineering and Information Technologies: "This is an important day for us and for you, as the industry gains 11 new professionals in the IT and engineering sector. This may not have been an easy period of your studies, as you had to travel far from home to study and integrate into a different society. But your ambition and desire to achieve your goals of becoming high-quality professionals have brought about this result, and the diploma you will receive today is a proof of this. You have succeeded, and as the Dean of the faculty, I am very pleased with your achievements. I would like to wish you a successful start to your working career, and to continue it if any of you are already working. May the skills, contacts, and experience we have given to you in this university support you in your career and in what you do. We will always be happy to see your achievements and proud to see you climb the career ladder. And if you want to continue your studies at the next level, know that the doors of the faculty are always open to you."
This week, graduates from other faculties will also celebrate their achievements. On 18 June at 11.00, graduates of the Faculty of Agriculture and Food Technology, and at 15.00, graduates of the Faculty of Forest and Environmental Sciences will receive their diplomas. On 19 June at 11.00, graduates of the Faculty of Economics and Social Development, and at 15.00, graduates of the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine will join the ranks of LBTU alumni.
