Competence to formulate and analyze in detail problems related to research and professional activities in the relevant sub-discipline of civil engineering, by performing critical analysis and evaluation of results. Integrate knowledge from other disciplines that contribute to the creation of new knowledge and technologies, as well as to the development of research and/or professional methods.

Admission requirements

Persons who have obtained a master's degree or an equivalent higher education degree in Civil Engineering are accepted. If the master's degree is obtained in another branch of engineering sciences, an entrance examination must be passed in the chosen sub-discipline of civil engineering science. Applicants for doctoral studies holding previous degree documents awarded by foreign universities are required for recognition of foreign qualification by the Academic Information Centre (AIC) of Latvia. Programme director Lilita Ozola says:

“Scientific work is dedication, especially at the beginning. However, the acquired professional erudition and the achieved results are very important for both the individual and the society. If you have knowledge and experience you are free from any pressure and unprofessional influence. This is the right way to achieve spiritual and material well-being while promoting the development of an environmentally friendly society.”
