Graduates work in public and private organizations, self-government institutions, forestry industry related state-owned or private enterprises and advisory service. You will gain knowledge in Forestry, Protection of Species and Biotypes, Monitoring of Biologically Valuable Ecosystems, Environmental Protection Policy in Latvia, Growth Science, Assessment of Environmental Impact, Plantations of Short Rotation Periods and Fuel-wood, Planning and Environmental Impact of Eco-tourism, Scientific Terminology of Forest Botany, Forestry or Forest Engineering, Logistics of Forest Exploitation, Use of Wood-pulp in Power Industry, Management of Wet-woods, Moss Flora of Latvia, Forest Policy, Forest Ecology, Forest Geography, Wood Science Advanced Course, Forest Value, Research Methodology course, EU strategy of forest industry, Wooden Materials and Technologies, Wood Products Design, Uses of Wood in Structures, Timber in Construction, Industrial Design, Wood Composites, Fundamentals of Gluing of the Wood, Forest Products Measurement and Accounting, Combined Utilization of Wood, Chemical Processing of Wood, Forests Products Markets.
You will have to choose your area of specialization from forest ecology, silviculture, forest protection, dendrology and forest botany.
The study programme is completed with elaboration and defence of Master's thesis.
Admission Requirements
Bachelor's degree or second-level professional higher education in forestry science, agricultural science, biology, environmental science, geography, computer science and economics. English requirements: CEFR B2, IELTS score 5.5, TOEFL score 520, TOEFL-iBT score 65.
Career prospects and further studies
Graduates work at the LLU or special secondary educational institutions, state and local government institutions, advisory service, forest-related state, municipal or private companies. Master's degree entitles graduates to continue studies in a respective doctoral programme in universities in Latvia or abroad.
