EIT Food HUB Latvia
From 2024 to 2025, the Latvian representation of EIT Food was implemented by Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies (LBTU) in cooperation with partners – Latvian Rural Advisory and Training Centre and Investment and Development Agency of Latvia.
During this period, LBTU operated the EIT Food Hub in Latvia as a regional contact point, promoting innovation, entrepreneurship, and knowledge transfer within the agriculture and food sectors. Various training activities, entrepreneurship programmes, discussions, hackathons, and collaboration initiatives were organised, involving students, researchers, startups, entrepreneurs, and public sector representatives.
EIT Food is one of the Knowledge and Innovation Communities (KICs) of the European Institute of Innovation and Technology (EIT), bringing together universities, research organisations, companies, and startups to build a healthier, more sustainable, and resilient food system in Europe.
LBTU’s involvement and experience in implementing EIT Food activities contributed to strengthening international collaboration, the innovation ecosystem, and the development of new opportunities within the Latvian agrifood sector.
More information about EIT Food activities and current contact information in Latvia can be found on the new EIT Food representation page: EIT Food Latvia.
