Green Tech Hakatons III
Green Tech Hackathon III took place at the LBTU, where around 50 young people and students developed business ideas over 48 hours, solving challenges set by Latvenergo in the fields of biodiversity, solar panel attachments and electricity storage batteries. In the final, €3000 scholarships were awarded to the Liepāja team "Draudzība" with a new gutter system, the Ķekava team "Manskre" with a drill-free solar panel mount solution, and the first place and the main prize went to the Riga team "Zero Snack" with a healthy banana peel chips idea.
Latvenergo experts and hackathon mentors were very satisfied with the creativity and innovation of the participants, stressing that the young people had created quality ideas in a short time and inviting them to continue developing their innovations after the hackathon. The winning team admits that they were initially doubtful about the relevance of the idea, but are surprised and delighted by their success.
Green Tech Hackathon III was organised to foster student-business collaboration and promote young people's understanding of entrepreneurship by tackling pressing challenges in sustainability and technology. The Hackathon participants had the opportunity to consult with almost 30 experts in different sectors and the event was supported by the European Regional Development Fund, Latvenergo and Elektrum.
