Academic profile
This programme is aimed to provide students with knowledge in land use planning, spatial planning, real property cadastre and real property valuation, surveying and cadastral surveying. The study programme consists of compulsory courses and elective courses, which give you:
- Knowledge of land surveying as a legal, economic and technical complex of concrete measures and its role in the sustainable use of land resources; land management and the role of land policy in its development; real estate cadastre, its content and necessity of cadastral information; value of real estate, measurement methodology and its role in development of territory;
- skills to integrate and apply knowledge for: carrying out research related to land surveying, land use planning, information of real estate cadastre and valuation, compilation and analysis; carrying out independent scientific research activities, elaborating of papers and publications on research results;
- scientific, professional and social competence: ability to use knowledge and skills in changing work and study situations, during performance of duties; ability to use knowledge and skills in the process of analysis of land management situations and make recommendations for land policy documents; ability to use knowledge and skills in organization and implementation of scientific research; willingness to take responsibility for the team management.
The research is conducted in the following areas: land management, real property cadastre and real property valuation, land use planning. The study programme is completed with the elaboration and defence of a Master`s thesis.
Admission Requirements
Applicants with Bachelor’s degree or the second-level professional higher education in Land Management or in the related specialties are approved for admission to the programme. English requirements: CEFR B2, IELTS score 5.5, TOEFL score 520, TOEFL-iBT score 65.
Career prospects and further studies
The graduates may work for state/municipality institutions, or private companies dealing with land and real property management. Graduates may continue studies as doctoral students of Economics at the Latvia University of Life Sciences and Technologies, other universities in Latvia or abroad.
