Green Tech Hakatons IV

Green Tech Hackathon IV took place at the LBTU, where around 50 young people and students worked on business ideas for 48 hours, solving environmental challenges set by CleanR Grupa, Gren Jelgava and the Latvian Waste Management Association. In the final, one-off scholarships were awarded to the teams "Lint" with an idea for waste-free clothing made from hemp fabric, "Šierie and She" with a prototype of an artificial intelligence waste sorting machine, and first place and a EUR 3000 scholarship to "Saknītes" with a solution for using wood ash in biorecyclable acoustic panels.

The jury members highly appreciated the participants' work, highlighting in particular the innovative approach to ash recycling and the spirit of creativity in a short, intensive period of time. The winning team acknowledged that there were challenges in developing the idea, but that the team's collaboration and expertise led to a successful prototype. The aim of the hackathon was to connect students with companies to promote sustainable and environmentally friendly innovation solutions.

Green Tech Hackathon IV was organised by the association "Green and Smart Technologies Cluster" in collaboration with LBTU and partners, with financial support from "CleanR Grupa" and "Gren Jelgava". Participants had access to consultations from almost 30 experts in various fields, who helped to develop ideas and build collaborations between students and companies to promote sustainable entrepreneurship in Latvia.
