Convent
According to the Constitution of LBTU, the Convent is the representative body of the academic, general staff and students of LBTU.
The Convent approves the Constitution of LBTU and its amendments; elects the Rector to office; may initiate the removal of the Rector from office; hears the annual report prepared by the Rector on the activities of LBTU; elects and recalls members of the Senate from among the academic and general staff; elects the Academic Arbitration Court; hears the annual report of the Academic Arbitration Court; develops and approves the regulations of the Convent and the Academic Arbitration Court.
The Convent is elected by secret ballot in general elections, consisting of 200 representatives for a term of three years, in the following composition:
140 representatives of the academic staff (professors, associate professors, docents, leading researchers, lecturers, researchers, assistants, scientific assistants elected to the positions);
40 student representatives (students, master's and doctoral students);
20 general staff representatives (administrative, technical, economic staff and teaching assistants).
The Convent is convened by the Chairman of the Convent no less than once a year. One third of the members of the Convent, the Senate, the LBTU Council and the Rector may also initiate the convening of the Convent. An extraordinary Convent may also be convened at the request of the LBTU Council of Advisors, the LBTU Council, the Senate, the Rector, or not less than two thirds of the students represented at the Convent.
The day of the Convent is announced at least ten working days in advance. Draft documents to be discussed at the Convent are available to the members of the Convent at least five working days before the day of the Convent.
Decisions, except for the election of the Rector, are adopted by the Convent by open voting. The decisions of the Convent are valid if at least half of the members of the Convent participate in the meeting. The decision is adopted if more than half of the members of the Convent present vote “for”. The Convent has the right to decide on the election of the Rector if at least two-thirds of the members of the Convent participate in it. The election of the Rector is held by secret ballot and the decision on the election of the Rector is made if more than half of the total number of members of the Convent have voted for it.
If a member of the Convent cannot attend a meeting of the Convent, he may authorize another member of the Convent to represent him at this meeting. The authorized person shall submit the authorization to the Secretary of the Convent before the meeting.
Decisions made by the Convent may be appealed to the Academic Arbitration Court of LBTU.
